Elements of Boho Style

To say we are just fans of Amber Interiors would be a gross understatement! We're obsessed with her interior design because it's so airy, fresh and eclectic, without being overdone. We have distilled this look down to a few key elements: tan leather, natural jute, indigo, mud cloth, foliage, exposed wood and layers. Here's our interpretation of this living space:

  1. Cisco Dexter Sofa - this brand is renowned for quality craftsmanship, comfort and unique textiles. We are especially big fans of their Brevard Aged Indigo fabric.
  2. Leather Stools - adding raw, tan leather and exposed wood adds warmth to a space, but it doesn't have to be a huge furniture piece, just a small accent stool or chair gets the job done.
  3. Don't be afraid to go thrifting. We use the OfferUp app all the time to find deals like this tan leather ottoman. You can definitely make a statement regardless of your budget. Thrifted treasures add personality to your space and give you a story to tell.
  4. Antique Indigo Pillows - indigo fabric has a faded and aged color to give a vintage element to your room... a must for adding dimension and depth to your space.
  5. Mud Cloth Textiles - African mud cloth, also called 'bogolan' - is made of handwoven cotton painted with patterns and symbols using a variety of natural dyes, including river mud. It adds interesting contrast to your pillow-scape, and because no two are ever exactly alike, you're always going to have an original piece.
  6. Natural Jute Rug - we like jute for its texture and because it's a neutral backdrop that you can layer onto and still look clean and polished.
  7. Statement Planter - contributing to the airy feel of this room is greenery... in any shape and size, you can't go wrong with a house plant! We like to avoid complicated finicky plants and opt for fail-proof ones like snake plants, that add life to a space without taking too much effort to maintain.

We also love kilim rugs... but that's a whole other blog post! What is your favorite element of this look?

Décor Inspo: Elevate Your Space with Beachy Boho Wall Art

I used to be a huge fan of gallery walls. Emphasis on used to be. (Past tense.)

That is until I came to the realization that I just can't pull them off properly.

Gallery walls have to be precisely executed to look polished.  Otherwise your wall can end up looking like a hot mess! Trust me, I know from personal experience. I just took down my own gallery wall because I gave up on trying to make it something it will never be.  Crème brûlée can never be Jell-O (and vice versa).

Jungalow Style: 9 Statement Planters We Love

by Hanin Smith June 20, 2017

The “jungalow” style we’ve all come to know and love (made popular by Justina Blakeney) can be called many things… a trend, a throwback to the seventies, but I think it’s more involved. I call it a movement towards the Craft home. Hear me out.
