One Room Challenge: Week 5

One Room Challenge: Week 5

May 02, 2018

Welcome back to the One Room Challenge! I can’t believe we’re only one week away from the final room reveal – ahh!

We’re getting even closer to narrowing down all of our options and adding the final touches. In last week’s post, I shared that Miranda and Taylor were findingin difficulty in selecting a light fixtures. They loved them all (and so did I – haha), but I’m happy to share that we went with the Tuyen Small Jute Pendant from Urban Outfitters for the dining room and the Claxy Brass Sputnik Chandelier for the living room!

RUGS

Miranda sent me a picture of the rug that came in the mail from Morocco – and it looks SO good! She said it looks even better in person. I can’t wait to see it on my next visit to their house – it feels like Christmas!

Speaking of rugs, we’re also going to use this gorgeous beauty from Anthropologie! This jewel-toned rug paired with the bright diamond patterned Moroccan rug is going to be a dream. I impulsively bought one once I saw there were only 2 left in stock, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a perfect fit for their living room.

COFFEE TABLE

Given that Nova (their kitty) is still favoring upholstered furniture (despite the multiple cat scratchers they’ve tried over the last few weeks), we are going to go with the Shadowbox Coffee Table (also from Urban Outfitters). Miranda and Taylor have some great coffee table books and nick knacks from their travels that they don’t get to display, so I think this will be a really fun and effortless way for them to show some of it off for their guests.

SEATING

The last major thing we need to source is an additional seating chair (or two). The original one we went with (featured in our last blog post) was a little too close to the color of the sofa, but slightly off in tone. With that being said, we’re hoping to find something that has a nice contrast, yet is still complementary to the sofa. Stay tuned on that!

ACCESSORIES

Accessories are the final touch, but we’re currently working on getting some new frames for a few of their art pieces from Frame Bridge. I definitely want to feature their Night Sky artwork they received as a wedding gift from a friend. If you haven’t heard of The Night Sky, you can thank me now for the best gift idea ever. It’s a custom star map that displays the night sky on any date of your choice. Perfect for those life-changing moments like weddings, newborns, the night you first met, the list goes on.

As far as pillows go, I’d like to add a splash of black into the mix and use some mud cloth. With all the wood trim, light sofa and colorful rugs, I think we need to add a few splashes of a darker neutral to balance it all out.

Check back next week to see the final reveal!

Holy bananas... 6 weeks flew by so fast, didn't they? Unreal. At the outset, 42 days to put together a room seemed like a leisurely pace. But when you factor in shipping and coordinating two busy human's schedules, it is quite the accomplishment to have transformed a room in this short of a period. But we DID IT!
